30.8.2010: DAP Child Act project Discussion

i am waiting at SKYPE on 7pm, as i had forgotten what time it's start actually
i was informed by Melinda Shirley and Phaik Nee unale to make it today.
i volunteer myself to do audiotape and send out to everyone by pando.

melinda is really efficient! she always come out with soemthing before we moved forward. this round, she bring her "  Letter to participants". she had drafted and asked all of us to review again. we spent a lot of time in looking to the letter. the choices of words, is really have to careful, as i think this is a learning task, the words like "investigation, research, study" we are having a lot of arguments on that. As we are having discussion, me, melinda, Seok Binn and Cheng, we yet to define that.

by then, i felt like to contribute something, so i drafted immediately the proposal while Melinda, Cheng and Seok Binn still discussed on it.  the proposal include the introduction of the DAP Child Art project,  objective/ aim, procedure of data collection, sampling, and also appendix.  at the same time, i try to modify the Indiana State Child Act Project Demographic factors. i picked up the relevant and important one and convert to PDF sharing to all ALS member.

along the way doing the proposal, mary joint in, she give us a big thought on the ethics and procedure of collecting data. the biases, the standard protocol, and also reduce minimum limitation. she is great in order task, and she is really precise, she know what she want and how to work towards the goals.   i really admired her a lot. Like what melinda mentioned in her recent reflection, Mary and us really looked detailed and serious on setting, the question we keep asked and discussed is whether the study will it be done in one venue or many other venue, if so then the result will be biased.

finally, i am able to disturb alex for a while and we have a short discussion. Alex guide me and also help me to look into my previous sharing on KXX case study!  the house, the tree and the person. very interesting. i am seeing a lot of metaphors and also projecting a lot of assumption

i think as a ALS, we will go through a great learning. treat this as a learning project, not as research project. it will make things easier.

gotta work more. and wish Phaik Nee will able to edit it and before hang in to Alex, i really wish to have another round discussion again :)

  1. Thats what I call teamwork. It's really good to know how well you do utilise the strengths from each in working towards a common goal. I am really pleased to see discussion and debate, as this helps to clarify and sharpen thinking as you give depth when considering the issues involved in the task. I look forward to the groups proposal.
