The Schematic Stage: Drawing Development in Children by Viktor Lowenfeld & Betty Edwards
The child arrives at a "schema" a definite way of portraying an object, although it will be modifed when he needs to potray something imprtant.
The Schema represents the child's active knowledge of the subject. at this stage, there is definite order in space relationships.

The drawing of the eyes is no pupils, close eyes with line.
no neck, trunk....

hmm.... i wondering what happends to the hand?
